Nanotechnology research is very active across the world for its expected impact across various economic sectors. The benefits to the aerospace sector can be from nanomaterials, coatings, high strength-low weight composites, multifunctional materials, sensor and actuator systems, radiation-free electronics and in general, systems with increased functionality per unit weight. This talk will provide an overview of these applications, and examples will be given on systems using nanomaterials such as carbon nanotubes and inorganic nanowires. |
