Multiscale Materials Modeling: Challenges and Opportunities at the Interface of Mechanics and Nanoscience |
講演要旨: |
We present an assessment of the emergence of multiscale modeling as a interdisciplinary approach to analyze complex phenomena in science and technology. This perspective will consider (a) the reasons why theory and simulation across different length and time scales are necessary for understanding stability and deformation phenomena and predicting materials performance, and (b) a number of current scientific challenges in the field of materials science and related disciplines such as solid and fluid mechanics. Using our own on-going research as illustrations, we suggest there are significant opportunities to contribute to the fundamental knowledge for the development of nanoscience and technology. |
